PSANZ Keynote Speaker of the Year

This award acknowledges speakers who have demonstrated high levels of professional eloquence, expertise, enterprise and ethics and who consistently derive keynote-related income on an ongoing basis.

Such speakers are able to do this because they’re committed to their own ongoing professional development and to the development of the speaking profession nationally and/or internationally. They are also supportive of PSANZ.

To apply for this award, click this link to open the application form, and on the new Google Docs screen take the following steps:

Your application will need to demonstrate:

Keynote speakers like you are the core of the speaking industry – experts who change lives from the stage. You have your own unique style and your own ways of connecting with and inspiring people. Please tell us the total value of keynote presentation-related income generated during the 18 months from 1 January 2021 to 30 June 2022. We need to know that you have met or exceeded the $NZ 20,000 excl GST income threshold to be eligible for this award. This reduction from the normal $50,000 acknowledges the difficulties the professional speaking industry has faced during the COVID pandemic.

We do not need a breakdown of income per event, though you may provide this if you wish.

Please verify this income by:

5. Service contribution

Great keynote speakers exemplify the spirit of Cavett Robert, the founder of the world’s first professional speaking association, in the USA in 1973. He would often say, "A desire to help others is our most noble attribute”. The spirit of Cavett Robert is one of sharing, guiding and inspiring other professional speakers.

Find out more and tell us what this means to you and how you have followed Cavett’s example.

6. The visuals

Please give us a link to an unedited video of you in action as a keynote speaker, within the past year, to a genuine audience – not an audience set up specifically to create the footage.

This footage should, if possible, run from the start of the MC’s introduction of you as speaker through to your leaving the platform or ending of your presentation, and will ideally run for 20-60 minutes, showing how you present to and engage with your audiences, in person or online.

Remember to include all links to visual and other materials you refer to in the ONE document you upload to support your application.
